Most of my family was sick during Christmas.
We had to cancel our plans.
As I was laying in bed resting, it dawned on me how blessed I was to have a comfortable bed and soft pillows and blankets in which to rest while I was sick. I am also blessed with a husband who takes excellent care of the patients in the household.
I have recovered and now he is sick and I am blessed to be able to take care of him while he is recuperating. Another blessing is that everyone is on Christmas break and no one is missing work or school.
I've noticed when I dwell on what I don't have, I am not as aware of others' needs. I would rather concentrate on being thankful for what I do have, because then I take the focus off myself.
Count your many blessings today!

I am blessed to have a sewing machine. Twenty-one years ago I bought a brand new Baby Loc Pro sewing machine and it is still as good as new. When I first purchased it, I sewed dresses for my little girls, baby quilts for my nephews and niece, and even a quilt for a king-sized bed.
I love to sew. Recently, I tried finding a coupon organizer that would keep my coupons orderly and neat. I couldn't find one that I liked, so I created a pattern and got out my sewing machine and made my own.
For the past two days, I have been sewing red flannel pajamas for my husband and son. They turned out wonderfully! Their school was taking part in a national reading challenge and the teachers and children were encouraged to wear red pajamas like the llama in the book "Llama, Llama, Red Pajama" by author, Anna Dewdney.
I'm sure my sewing machine and I will spend many happy hours together in the future making more clothes, crafts and quilts. Who knows, maybe I'll even try to sew something I haven't tried before.

The blessings I post will not be in the order of what is most important to me, but something that I feel especially blessed by each day. Today I consider our new house (new to us) a huge blessing! Even though there are numerous unpacked boxes, it has felt like home from day one. It is incredible the number of additional blessings that come from this one.
Since we are closer to work and school, mornings and evenings are more relaxing. We have not subscribed to a TV service yet and it is amazing how much more time we have to do other things, more important things. Like relax on the deck and enjoy the evenings talking together.
I hope this blog will be a blessing to others, and help them to focus on the blessings in their lives.
